Bull Island: 5 km of beach. Bull Island was declared an UNESCO Biosphere a National Nature Reserve in 1988. lies on the northern side of Dublin Bay, about 7 km northeast of Dublin City centre. Poolbeg Lighthouse: Walk the South Wall out to the lighthouse, great for all the family and very popular with bird watchers. Rock n Stroll trail: If you have an interest in modern Irish music then walk the Rock n Stroll trail. The trail will take you to the sites in Dublin which are of great importance to Irelands most renowned musicians click here for details. Literary Walking Tour: Start at the Grand Canal and stop at the statue of poet Patrick Kavanagh - walk down Mount street and enter Merrion Square Park to check out the statue of playwright, novelist and poet Oscar Wilde. Across the road is at 1 Merrion Square Wilde's childhood home. Take the short stroll to Trinity College where Samuel Beckett, Jonathan Swift and Oliver Goldsmith where educated. From Trinity Collage's main gate walk down Dame street to the Chester Beatty Library. Marley Park and the Dublin mountains: Stroll or hike through this calm oasis on the outskirts of Dublin. Simply follow the yellow marker posts for about an hour on a climb into the nearby woods. www.wicklowway.com.Take the 48A bus from Dame Street (city centre near O'Connell Street) for 1/2 an hour, the last stop is Marley Park. Howth Head: Walk along the unpaved path that runs along the southern part of Howth Head. Take a break along the way and admire the fantastic views over Dublin Bay. Get the Dart train to Howth village (about 25 minutes from the city centre). Dún Laoghaire Pier: Take the 46A bus to Dún Laoghaire and enjoy this very popular walk. |
